What am I doing here?

First post - what am I doing here - on this course?

I work part-time and am a postgrad student part-time.

As a researcher I've spent a wodge of time in the past decade working on carbon reduction (with the UEA's CRed programme) , developing carbon footprinting tools for use in communities and individual households.

Lately, I've been working on quantifying the environmental impacts of new, low energy/carbon housing, developing a life cycle approach and it’s this that is forming the core of my thesis.
I come from a natural sciences (BSc) and Climate Change (MSc) background. The course itself is more social science than I'm used to and I hope that it will give me a good theoretical grounding for understand the social context in which greenhouse gas emissions, are occurring - namely our societies over consumption.

I'm looking forward to using this blog to work through the concepts, ideas and challenges to my perceptions that this course will present.
